Being in Love with Love:
The Mystic Path of Blessed John Ruusbroec
A silent retreat devoted to exploring the teachings of the 14th century
Christian mystic Blessed John Ruusbroec. Carefully following guidelines
found in his classic work The Divine Espousals, we will explore the
interior path that leads into "dark stillness in which all lovers lose
their way." Time will be given for group silent meditation, personal
reflection and discussion of the themes presented. The retreat is intended
to be both a basic introduction for beginners and a more source of ongoing
encouragement for those more experienced in contemplative spirituality.
The topics covered in the conferences include:
The Active Life, in which we begin to find God in the hidden center of
our daily activities and concerns.
The Interior Life, in which we go deeper in awakening to God's love,
wholly permeating every aspect of our lives.
The Contemplative Life, in which the last traces of our confusion and
fear dissolve in God's love, allowing us to live in the daily awareness
that God's love is the very reality of ourselves, others and all things.
