Mechthild of Magdeburg:
Learning to be a Great Lover
A retreat devoted to exploring the teachings of the thirteenth century Christian mystic Mechthild of Madgeburg. By carefully exploring passages in her book The Flowing Light of the Godhead, we will join her in discovering the spiritual fulfillment that comes in learning to be a great lover. Time will be given for group meditation, personal reflection and discussion of the themes presented.
The topics covered in the conferences include:
Who was Mechthild of Madgeburg: The guiding principles of her teaching.
Understanding why it is so scary and so freeing to experience God's infinite love for us.
The stages through which we pass in surrendering to God's love for us.
Discovering that love is "the folly of fools who live free of anguish."
Love leading us into the utter ordinariness, poverty and bliss of being human.
